How to work out magnification level

  • all lenses have a number stamped on them, with an 'X'
  • the 'X' stands for the magnifying power of the lens -
    how much bigger it makes the object SEEM to be
  • each lens magnifies the image from the previous lens...


To calculate:
Note the magnification power on the eyepiece lens
Note the magnification power on the objective lens
Multiply them together


Use Formula:
TOTAL POWER = EYEPIECE POWER x OBJECTIVE POWER
