Liquid Layers

Different liquids have different densities.

In this graduated cylinder are equal amounts of cooking oil, water (coloured) and paraffin oil, left to settle.

Oil has a lower density than water and will float on water. The paraffin oil has a lower density than the cooking oil and thus floats on top.

The most dense goes to the bottom and the least dense goes to the top.
