Floating Oranges

Whole orange floats

Peeled orange sinks -Why?

The unpeeled orange floats - there are numerous air pockets in the orange peel, which make the orange lighter than water and so it floats on water .

Peeling an orange removes the peel and removes the air pockets which are naturally present between the orange and the peel. Once the air is gone, the orange will sink.
