The inside of the Bryne's house looks like the one in the picture.

There is a big open fire in the kitchen. Timber and turf are burned.
The fire is always lighting because it cooks food,
heats water for washing and keeps the house warm at night.

There is a big chair beside the fire where Dad usually sits, a couple of stools and a rough table.
The floor is just earth that is hard from constant walking.
In the bedroom there is a large bed where James, Mary and the younger children sleep.
Young James, Bridget and Patrick usually sleep on mattresses filled with straw near the fireplace.
