Looking at & Responding to .... Construction ... Looking at Sculpture . . Water Story by David Kinane

This sculpture is called Water Story. It was made by David Kinane in 2005 and is found in Bunclody, Co. Wexford.

The artist wanted to tell the story of the River Slaney. Is his idea of using a book a good one? The cover of the book represents the towns along the Wexford coastline and the pages show a picture of the River Slaney. It is made from cast bronze.

Style is about how a sculpture portrays a subject. A realistic sculpture is one in which the subject is accurately portrayed. The subject is recognisable. Is this sculpture realistic? Does the sculpture look like a book? Does the River Slaney look like this? This sculpture is found in a new housing estate? Where would you think is a good place for a sculpture like this?
