Merchant of Venice Themes - God

What image of God is seen in this extract? The most important message is that God is merciful ("It is an attribute of God himself"). And so we should also be merciful if we wanrt to be like God: "earthly power doth then show likest God's/When mercy season's justice". The imagery of kingship reminds us that such imagery is often aplied to God - e.g. there's a feastday of Christ the KIng.
