Life Style Finances is designed to prepare Transition Year students with the financial skills to meet their everyday needs both now and in life after school. It covers the following topics income, expenditure, budgeting, credit, debt, savings, banking, insurance and taxation. The philosophy of the site is that students are involved actively in the learning of skills that should stand the test of time, rather than learning present day figures. The resources are presented in PowerPoint presentation, interactive quiz and worksheet formats. Throughout the module students complete a workbook. The module is suitable for both students, who studied Business Studies at Junior Certificate and those that did not.
For most lessons the use of the Internet in a computer laboratory setting is required, but with some adjustments or with advanced downloading of materials by the teacher, a lot of the module could be covered with a classroom laptop and data projector in an ordinary classroom.
